Every year eFulfillment Service (eFS) team members select three Northern Michigan charities to donate to. These charities are chosen by staff and this year the voting process took place in a Halloween-themed event at the fulfillment center’s warehouse located in Traverse City.
Treats for Charity was an all-day event that encouraged team members to sport their Halloween costumes and to vote for their favorite charities. With six charities to choose from, narrowed down by the eFulfillment Service Charitable Contribution Committee (CCC), the eFS staff to selected their top three choices while also voting for their favorite costumes being worn by fellow team members around the ecommerce fulfillment facility.
To keep the event COVID-friendly, team members were able to vote through early afternoon via an electronic platform that could be accessed on their phones. Tasty treats were available throughout the day to avoid large gatherings in the break area and winners were announced throughout the fulfillment center to eliminate gathering for the results.
To be eligible, nominated organizations have to benefit the Northern Michigan community and be 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations. Previously in the 2019 holiday season, eFS employees chose to donate to Norte, Meals on Wheels and AC PAW. This year the winning charities are the Women’s Resource Center, The Father Fred Foundation and the Great Lakes Humane Society.
It was tough to pick only three out of so many deserving charities, it was equally as hard to pick three winners for the costume contest. The winners of the eFulfillment Service costume contest are Jamie Stone in third place, who dressed as a dragon. Second place goes to Mariah Hassem who dressed as a penguin and first place goes to Maggie Erickson who dressed as a scarecrow. Each winner received Visa gift cards in varying amounts as their prize.

About the Women’s Resource Center
The Women’s Resource Center (WRC) has been helping victims of sexual and domestic violence for 40 years. After four decades of service, the WRC is known as the area’s primary service provider for domestic and sexual violence survivors, assisting residential and non-residential clients with support, advocacy and immediate crisis intervention. The agency is also the acknowledged area expert on sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking and annually provides approximately 150 public awareness, prevention, education and awareness activities for allied professionals and agencies, civic groups and schools.
About The Father Fred Foundation
Since 1989, The Father Fred Foundation has been helping individuals and families with their essential immediate needs; nourishing food on the table, keeping heat and lights on, needed work shoes, children’s boots and clothing, or a table or bed when the necessities of home are unaffordable. Above all, they work to nurture hope when all else seems hopeless. What they have is given free of charge to those in need. They serve our five local counties (Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Leelanau, Kalkaska ) and welcome all individuals.
About the Great Lakes Humane Society
Opening its doors in 2010, the Great Lakes Humane Society offers abandoned and unwanted animals shelter, medical care and the opportunity to be adopted into a loving home. Their facility has heated kennels and plenty of room for animals to romp and play. They educate the public about adopting rather than purchasing a pet and to increase awareness of the need to spay and neuter animals in the battle against pet overpopulation.
