It’s already late August, and Fall will be here before we know it. So, to make the most of Summer, eFulfillment Service, a fulfillment center with more than 100 employees, held a good old-fashioned pig roast for the entire team! There was plenty of tender, juicy meat and delicious sides to go around, and left-overs to boot! It’s a great way to thank the team for all their hard work – nothing says “awesome job” like a feast – and get everyone together to have some fun.

The Pig Roast is an eFulfillment Service tradition, and would not be possible without the efforts of the company’s outstanding IT team, who put on the event each year, along with some great chefs from other departments. This year, the cooking ensemble included Nick Ernst, James Lyons, as well as Preston Hamilton from Maintenance. Matt Burden had a walk-on role, providing the instant-read thermometer.

From digging the pit to setting up the spit, these intrepid barbecuers turned the warehouse parking lot into a carnivore’s paradise. It took all night – a hammock was set up for the guys to nap in shifts – but this allowed the meat to be slow-cooked to perfection. More than experts in online ordering, eFulfillment Service proved themselves to be purveyors of fulfilling meals as well!

Thankfully, the whole staff was able to gather this year. Last year, as with most events, the 6th annual Pig Roast was cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions on social distancing.

“So, this time around, simply being able to share a meal with fellow team members was a treat in itself,” says Merry Hawley, HR Manager.  “A mouth-watering barbecue pork sandwich was just the cherry on top!”
